“Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends”

-John 15:13 KJV

Today is a day that we are reminded to remember our service men and women that have served our country. They chose to make the sacrifice to leave their homes, their families and loved ones, and their whole life here in America to go and fight to protect not just all they left, but all of that for all of us as well. They laid down their life in effort to protect our freedoms that we hold so dear. We remember them and their families today for the sacrifice that they made. We pray that God walks close to them to provide comfort and peace everyday.

We should never forget The One who also died for our freedom, Jesus Christ. He sacrificed and gave all he had to set us free from the bondage of sin. With out His death, we would be a prisoner to Satan and all his devices. Jesus came to Earth for the sole purpose of setting us free and giving us liberty in the name of our Heavenly Father. He came here not to condemn us, but to save us (John 3:16-19). So as we spend time today observing those who have sacrificed all for our civil liberties, let us not forget The One who sacrificed all for our spiritual liberty.

Dear God – I thank you so much for those who are willing to sacrifice it all to protect us, and serve our country. Lord I know the task is difficult and trying, and I pray you walk with them every step of the way. Guide their steps, actions, and thoughts, and protect their hearts and minds as they face the unimaginable. Please walk ever closer to their families and friends who have also sacrificed, so that their loved one may serve. May you send them The Comforter to guide their hearts until they are reunited, or to hold them close in love in that dreaded hour of sorrow. God I thank so much for the sacrifice you made for us; sending your son to die to set us free from sin. May we never lose sight of the liberty you have bestowed upon us through your love, mercy, and grace.
