“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that WHEN the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground…..”
– Ephesians 6:13 NIV
Have you ever heard someone say the following words, or maybe you yourself have even said them:
-I am done with this, I am not making a difference
-I am so sick of these people not doing anything
-I am done with this marriage he/she doesn’t love or respect
-Why do I even bother no body listens to anything I say
-If this church doesn’t go the way I think then I will just leave and never come back
-I will never forgive them for this
And the list goes on and on. I could sit here and type all day long the list of things I have heard people say in the last few months that is a result of their fatigue and frustration they are experiencing from battling Satan.
Ephesians 6 tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we can be prepared for battle. Praise God the war has already been won! But we as Christians were assigned a set of armor the day we joined God’s army, and we will be battling Satan for the cause of Christ to lead others to Him until the day we die.
Satan has always been run rampant, but he seems to be attacking so many Christian people so much harder lately. And perhaps it’s not really harder, perhaps it’s just a new strategy, I don’t know. People are discouraged, and leaving the ministry, marriages are falling apart left and right, churches are being torn apart, and over what? US!
We as Christians have forgotten the vitally important foundation of who we are and what we stand on, God’s Word. Ephesians 6:13 tells us to put on our armor and prepare for WHEN the day of evil comes. Not IF; WHEN. We knew this time was coming! But yet now that it has arrived the majority of Christians (my self included) have laid their armor down in the field and walked away and said this is not what I signed up for. As Satan has attacked us, we have not turned to God’s word for our answers, but went off of our emotions and feelings and our own stubbornness and attitudes because we think they way we think or feel is correct or justified.
Well I got a news flash from God. In His word, there is not room for our thoughts, opinions, feelings, or emotions, only His word.
When it comes to our walk in the Lord, which should encompass our work and business, our school, our families, our marriages, our churches (and any other aspect of your life that is not listed here), it seems we have all written an addition to our bibles called the Book of Opinions. And God’s is telling us to look at our lives… THERE IS NO ROOM FOR THAT BOOK IN MY WORD!
I saw a video the other day of a minister who was fed up with his Congregation. And at the end of his rant he said, “If you open your bible is says STOP IT!!!! The word of the Lord.” But the thing is, that is a legitimate statement! Stop being ugly, ridiculous, stubborn, hardheaded, having hurt feelings, being mean to your spouse (and that includes physical and verbal abuse, having an affair or thinking about having one), fighting with church people, acting like fools (and I use that term because it is what the Bible calls it – proverbs 18:2) and see that we are not going to win the battle if we don’t follow God’s word.
Every answer for every problem you will ever have is in the bible. The question is are you willing the Crack open the book and do the work it takes from you to fight for God. Do you know how to fix a minimum of 50% of your problems you face with other people? Seek God and allow him to change you.
Dear God- I am so sick of struggling and fighting Satan, that i could just puke. Please give us strength to overcome. Lord you know how your people are struggling, how we are weak, tired, and can’t seem to stand. I believe God we cannot stand the heat of battle because we have taken our eyes off of you, your word, and the battle plan you gave us. Please God forgive us! Give us strength to go back out on the field, pick up our armor and continue to fight in your name, for your honor and glory. Protect our families, marriages, churches, ministries, and our walk with you. Give us confidence to claim the victory Jesus won for us at Calvary. We rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus Christ who shed His blood for us, to take up your devices and leave, because you have no authority here. We love you God and thank you for your mercy and grace that is ever lasting. Amen
